Teton Basin Ranger District is the best of both states, located in Idaho and Wyoming. The Teton Range lures hikers and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the World to it's majestic peaks and unspoiled Wilderness areas.

Jedediah Smith Wilderness

Designated in 1984 as a Wilderness area because of it's unique karst limestone features, including numerous caves and outstanding scenery. It was named after Jedediah Strong Smith, a well-educated and energetic mountain man from New York, who explored the west in the early 19th century .

The Jedediah Smith Wilderness lies on the west slope of the Teton Range in western Wyoming and stretches from Yellowstone National Park south to Teton Pass.

Grand Targhee Ski Area

The local citizens of Teton Valley were instrumental in establishing Grand Targhee Resort. In 1966 Grand Targhee, Inc. was formed. The resort opened on December 26, 1969 and was officially dedicated by then Governor Samuelson on February 2, 1970.
