Ashton/Island Park and Dubois Ranger Districts applying for recreational grants to improve your public land experience!

 

ASHTON/DUBOIS, Id: The Ashton/Island Park and Dubois Ranger Districts of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest are submitting grant applications to the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR). “We have hundreds of miles of recreation opportunities in eastern Idaho,” said Curt Neppl, zoned recreation staff officer. “IDPR grants allow us to maintain and enhance recreation sites and trails across the forest and we are looking for public input on our projects.”

 

If approved, these grants will provide the Forest Service with funds for several projects on the Ashton/Island Park and Dubois Ranger Districts. These include requests from the following funds:

 

Off-Road Motor Vehicle Fund

  • Ashton/Island Park Ranger District OHV Cattleguards
  • Ashton/Island Park Ranger District Snowmobile
  • Dubois Ranger District Motorized Trailhead Kiosks
  • Dubois Ranger District OHV Cattleguards

 

Recreational Vehicle Fund

  • Ashton/Island Park Ranger District Campground Sign Improvements
  • Big Springs Warming Hut Vault Toilet Replacement
  • Flatrock Campground Improvements
  • Steel Creek Campground Fence Improvements
  • Stoddard Creek Campground Fence Improvements
  • Warm River Campground Vault Toilet Replacement

 

The Idaho Dept. of Parks and Recreation provides a variety of funding mechanisms and grants to government entities in Idaho for the creation and renovation of outdoor recreational facilities. The program funds over $7 million dollars in projects each year.
