Upcoming Forest Plan Revision Public Meetings Designed for Options, Opportunity & Involvement Choices

Bozeman, MT – The Custer Gallatin National Forest Plan Revision team starts developing the revised plan in 2017.  Public meetings and collaborative sessions will be offered throughout spring 2017.  These meetings offer an array of involvement options from an evening public meeting to more in-depth collaborative sessions with a focus on tying the current conditions from the recently published Assessment of Existing Conditions Report and items identified as needing to change into the development of potential desired conditions.  Meetings will have a main presentation followed by exercise stations and smaller groups.  The second day will be hosted through small group discussions.  Meetings will also cover what’s ahead in 2017 and a session on Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers.  In each location certain topical areas rose as key interest items and will be a focus for those respective areas.  Meetings will be held in Feb, March and early April:

Throughout the spring, opportunities will exist beyond public meetings to submit information and be involved.  Participants for public meetings should feel free to come and go as their calendar and flexibility allows.  “The spectrum of engagement opportunities reaches out to folks that want to come for a quick update at one meeting or also gives options for folks that want to dive deeper and help in the creation of developing desired conditions for the plan,” said Virginia Kelly, Forest Plan Revision Team Leader.  “We’ve worked to design a customizable approach across this broad landscape and move across the Custer Gallatin from distinct place to place.”

Complete public meeting, webinar and collaborative session details are available online as the dates approach.  For further information visit www.fs.usda.gov/custergallatin, follow the Custer Gallatin National Forest Facebook page, Twitter @GallatinNF and @CusterNF and make sure to subscribe to the mailing list by emailing cgplanrevision@fs.fed.us, calling 406-587-6735 or opting in online.
