Recreational Passes and Permits

Diamond Butte LookoutReservable Cabins on Custer National Forest

Three Forest Service cabins are available to rent on a nightly basis.  Cabins include:

Ashland Ranger District:

  • Diamond Butte Lookout
  • Whitetail Cabin

Beartooth Ranger District:

  • Myers Creek Cabin (online reservations May 15 - Aug 1) reservations may be available after August 1st depending on yearly fire seasons.  Please call Beartooth Ranger District for further information.

Cabin prices and amenities vary. Additional information, amenities, restrictions and cabin seasons are available by visiting recreation.gov. To speak with a person prior to reserving a cabin, call the respective ranger district office where the cabin is located.Recreational Passes, Annual Pass


The following passes are available at the Billings SO and all Ranger District offices
 

Interagency Annual Pass

Covers entrance to National Park sites and Fish and Wildlife Service Refuges that charge an entrance fee. Covers use of Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation sites that charge a standard amenity fee.
Admits the pass holder and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle. In individual locations where a per person fee is charged, the pass admits the pass holder and up to 3 persons.
 

Price: $80
Restrictions: Valid for 12 months from month of purchase. Expires last day of the month punched.
 

Interagency Senior Pass

Covers entrance to National Park sites, and Fish and Wildlife Service Refuges that charge an entrance fee. Covers use of Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation sites that charge a standard amenity fee.
Admits the pass holder and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle. In individual locations where a per person fee is charged, the pass admits the pass holder and up to 3 persons.
The pass may provide a discount on some expanded amenity fees such as camping.
Valid for pass holder’s lifetime
 

Price: $10

Restrictions: Available to U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. that are 62 years of age or older. The Interagency Senior Pass may only be purchased in person at any district office or supervisor’s office with proof of age and residency.

Admits the pass holder and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle. In individual locations where a per person fee is charged, the pass admits the pass holder and up to 3 persons.
The pass may provide a discount on some expanded amenity fees such as camping.
Valid for pass holder’s lifetime
 

Price: Free
Restrictions: The pass may be issued to U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., regardless of age, that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities. Obtain in person at a district office with documentation of disability and residency.
