Volunteering

Photo of a volunteer working with kids. The Volunteers in the National Forest Act of 1972 formalized Volunteer service for the USDA Forest Service. National forests, grasslands, and prairies are available to enjoy by the public because of numerous years of service by individuals to preserve, protect, and improve them. Your volunteer efforts help continue that legacy!

Why Volunteer?

Working with the Forest Service and fellow volunteers provides an opportunity to see what our National Forests and Grasslands offer in a way beneficial to both yourself and the forest. The commitment you make is up to you.

Volunteering with the USDA Forest Service can offer valuable experience and life-long memories. Give it a try! Call any of our local offices or search Volunteer.gov to find out how you can volunteer today!
