Swan Lake Ranger District Planning for New Trails

Collaborate on Motorized Trails in the Island Unit

BIGFORK, MONT. – On April 4, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Swan Lake Ranger District will hold a meeting to discuss development of the motorized trails in the Island Unit Trails decision. The meeting will be held at the Flathead National Forest Supervisor’s Office located at 650 Wolfpack Way, Kalispell, MT.

Island Trails

Before developing the motorized trail system, we feel it is important to discuss and develop with trail users and partners the trail design and management plans, as well as a development timeline. We will be limiting this discussion to the motorized routes and connector sections on the Island Unit. The interest of forming a collaborative group to guide the implementation, monitoring and management of the motorized trail system will be discussed.

If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to participate, please contact our office by March 31, 2013. Your knowledge and input may help us with development of the Island Unit Motorized trail system.
