(FIRE UPDATE) Suppression Efforts Continue in SCOFMP Area

Lakeview, Oregon – Two new fires were reported today, they have been named Freedom and Independence in honor of Americans and their sacrifices that have made this day possible.

Freedom is .12 acres; Independence is holding at .10 acres.

Firefighters have responded nearly 40 fires in the South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership area (SCOFMP) since July 1. The largest is the Saddle Flat fire, which was reported at 3:25 p.m., July 3, and is holding at 5.3 acres. Firefighters are working on mop-up and watching for new starts in the area due to high winds.
