Lakeview, Oregon – On Monday, Dec. 8 weather permitting, the Fremont-Winema National Forest will close the Elder Creek Bridge to all traffic while the bridge undergoes crucial maintenance. This temporary closure is for the safety of the public.

The Elder Creek Bridge is located on Forest Service Road 33 (33 Road), also known as the River Road, approximately 16 miles southwest of Paisley, Oregon. The bridge is about one quarter of a mile north of the River Road's junction with Forest Service Road 28, on the Paisley Ranger District. Road closure signs will be posted on the River Road's junctions with Forest Service Roads 28 and 3510.

During this one-day project, there will be no nearby detour around the bridge. Forest visitors are encouraged to utilize their Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for alternate routes.

The bridge maintenance includes the replacement of bridge decking and back walls. This work is needed in order to maintain the structural integrity of the bridge.
