Gila National Forest to hire a seasonal Veteran Fuels Crew

Silver City, NM, January 31, 2019—For Immediate Release.  The Gila National Forest, Black Range and Quemado Ranger Districts are hiring Veterans Fuels crews for the upcoming field season. These crew would complete fuels related work, prescribed burning and wildfire suppression.

The requirements for this position are:

  • Must have a General or Honorable Discharge

  • Must have current resume

  • Must have DD-214

  • Must be able to pass the arduous Work Capacity Test (aka pack test) – which is completion of the walking test, three (3) miles in under 45 minutes carrying a 45 pound pack
