Gila National Forest Draft Forest Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement Official Release Delayed – Public Meeting Announcement

Silver City, NM, January 7, 2020.  The Gila National Forest has not yet received clearance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to officially release the draft revised management plan and draft environmental impact statement for an official public comment period.  This pushes the start and end of the official comment period out. The Notice of Availability is anticipated to be published in the Federal Register on January 24 or January 31, 2020. Despite the delay, the forest has made the draft documents available for public review, since December 23, 2019, on the Forest Plan Revision website. The Gila National Forest will be hosting a series of public meetings at the locations listed below. At the discretion of the Forest Supervisor, all substantive comments between the time the draft Forest Plan and draft Environmental Impact Statement were posted on the Forest Plan website will be considered formal comments.

The public meetings will not be open-house style and will begin at the times shown. If you show up late there will still be an opportunity to provide feedback, but you will miss part of the conversation.  The meetings are as follows:
