Current Fire Information

07/18/2019 - The Rock Springs Fire was discovered July 10 at 6:30 pm. It is burning in the West Elk Wilderness approzimately 7 miles northeast of Coal Mesa/Cow Creek Trailhead and approximately 4 miles southwest of Bonfish Peak. There are no structures threatened or values at-risk at this time. Firefighters are allowing the fire to play its natural role in the ecosystem - continuing to assess fire behavior and weather - while they work to protect economic and recreation values.

Please never leave your campfires unattended, and use water to extinguish it, ensuring it is completely out and cool to touch before leaving the area. Fireworks are prohibited on National Forest lands.
