Forest Service temporarily closes Pond Lick road for public safety

Blacksburg, Va., September 12, 2023 - The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests have closed Pond Lick Road (Forest Service Road 202) in Pulaski County to replace culverts and reconstruct the road. Pond Lick Road is 2.8 miles long and will remain closed through May 2024. All access to Gatewood Park via state route 710 will remain open.
The Forest Service is working in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division to improve road safety and conditions from major storm damage that occurred in 2018.
