Forest Service to conduct prescribed burn in Page County on Friday, February 16, 2024

Release Date: Feb 15, 2024

Location(s): The 86-acre Seakford Fields and 319-acre Moody Tract burn units are located near Bentonville in Page County, VA.

Date and Time: The Forest Service plans to begin ignitions on February 16, 2024, if weather conditions are appropriate. The ignition-phase will be concluded in one day, however residents and forest visitors may see and smell smoke from this prescribed burn for a few days.

Smoke Impacts: Possible smoke impacts on FS road 684 and HWY 340 and near the Bentonville and Luray communities

Objectives: This burn will improve wildlife habitat by restoring open woodlands and grasslands to the forest landscape.
