Caldwell Fields and Boley Fields in Montgomery County, and the Craig Creek Recreation Area and the three group camping sites at Steel Bridge in Craig County, will be open April 10 through October 25 while the day-use areas are open year-round. Reservations are required for all four group camping sites and can be made by calling 877-444-6777 or visiting recreation.gov. Additionally, the pavilion at Fenwick Mines in Craig County is now available for reservations for the period May 15 through October 4. Visit recreation.gov for reservation information.
For 2020, the White Cedar Horse Camp, White Rocks Campground and Walnut Flats Campgrounds in Giles County will be open from May 7 to November 2. The Pines Campground in Craig County will be open from May 7 to November 30. The exact opening and closing dates may vary by a few days each year.
“We are committed to providing the best possible customer service and quality outdoor experiences. We are focusing resources on upgrading camping areas and improving service during peak use of the campgrounds,” said District Ranger Dan McKeague.
The Forest Service plans to improve camping sites at the Pines Campground and White Rocks Campground this summer. The water systems at the Pines Campground and White Cedar Horse Camp are being repaired. Drinking water will be available there as soon as the repairs are completed, which is expected to be sometime after the campgrounds open.
