Appendix J - Maps

There are three types of maps in this appendix.

Map 1A - 1D - These maps show the management areas delineated for each part of the Forest.  The management areas correspond to the guidance described in Chapter 3.  Due to the size of the Forest, and in order to show a reasonable level of detail, we've displayed the Forest on four separate map sheets.  The Forest is divided up by the most northern block, the block near Shoals, IN, the block near Patoka Lake, and the largest southern block.  National Forest System ownership is shown in shaded gray on each map.

Map 2A, 2B - The Visual Quality Objective (VQO) Map shows the visual quality objectives identified for each portion of the Forest.  This map is broken into the north and south sections of the Forest.

Map 3 - The Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) Map shows the recreation opportunity classifications for various portions of the Forest.

Administrative Correction 2

March 2007

Corrections to Management Areas

Corrects Forest Plan Maps 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D

Administrative corrections are defined at 36 CFR 219.7(b) and may be made at any time and are not plan amendments or revisions.

Administrative corrections include the following:

(1)   Corrections and updates of data and maps,

(2)   Corrections of typographical errors or other non-substantive changes;

(3)   Changes in the monitoring program and monitoring information

(4)   Changes timber management projections; and

(5)   Other changes in the Plan Document or Set of Documents, except for substantive changes in the plan components.

Administrative Corrections should be printed on salmon colored paper and distributed to all employees for inclusion in their copy of the Forest Plan.

Approximately 252 acres of the Forest area was not included in the boundary or designated by Management Areas during the Forest Plan Revision process.  These are not additional acres to the Forest.  All acres were included in the overall management acres of National Forest System lands.  These map corrections will incorporate those areas into appropriate Management Areas.  Most mapping corrections were caused by use of the ArcMap functions that cause slivers to be created during spatial analysis of data.  Other areas came from lands not being added into the database in a consistent manner.  All acres are National Forest System land and are to be included in the Management Area and Forest acres.  Corrections are defined in Table 1.  Maps 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D including the corrections will be distributed to all employees.
