Public Invited to Eastern Region Recreation Resource Advisory Committee Meeting

The Eastern Region Recreation Resource Advisory Committee (Recreation RAC) will meet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, March 14 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, March 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Forest Service Eastern Regional Office 626 East Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI. 

People interested in recreation fees in the Eastern Region are invited to attend the Friday portion of the meeting. The public comment period is tentatively scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on March 15. Time allotted for individual presentations will be limited to 3 minutes.  If you cannot join in person, please feel free to join us by conference call at 888-844-9904, 8400659#.  Written comments are encouraged, particularly if the material cannot be presented within the time limits of the comment period. Written comments may be submitted by sending them to the Eastern Region Recreation RAC Coordinator. (Address below.)  

The tentative agenda includes a working meeting at the hotel reviewing the following fee proposals: 

  1. Regional streamlining fee proposal by the Recreation Resource Advisory Committee. 
  2. Monongahela National Forest fee proposals which includes fee increases for Bear Heaven Campground, Laurel Fork Campground, Red Creek Campground The proposal also includes a proposed new fee for a daily reservation at Seneca Rocks Picnic Shelter;  
  3. Huron Manistee National Forest fee proposal for new fees at serval campgrounds and group campgrounds.  

The Recreation RAC is authorized under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, signed into law December, 2004.
