Austin, NV. – The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest released the Hickison Wild Burro Territory Appropriate Management Levels and Management Actions Project draft Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), and final Environmental Assessment (EA) for a 45-day formal objection period. Objections will be accepted only from people who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project during scoping or other designated comment periods.

The purpose of this project is to establish Appropriate Management Levels (AMLs) and set general management direction for the 52,570-acre Hickison Wild Burro Territory, a congressionally designated U.S. Forest Service wild burro territory on the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District. The proposed action establishes lower and upper AMLs, authorizes population management actions (gathering, removing, and augmenting burros under certain conditions), and establishes an adaptive management approach to appropriately respond to wild burro population growth or declines.

The date of this legal notice is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file an objection. Those wishing to object should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source.
