Inyo National Forest is hiring two student interns

The Inyo National Forest is hiring two student internship positions under the Pathways Program in the federal service, from October 4 through October 13, 2022. Both jobs are at the GS-03 to GS-07 level and open to students who have been accepted for enrollment, or who are enrolled at least half-time, in an accredited high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, or trade school pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

“This is an incredible opportunity for college students to embark on a career pathway into the federal service,” said Nathan Sill, Resources and Planning Officer. “It’s also an exciting time for students to be joining us in new project work at the Forest.”

The Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. This Student Trainee position will be filled as an Intern appointment. The appointment is indefinite and is expected to last for the duration of the student's academic attendance.

Requirements to apply include:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and meet education requirements.
  • Must undergo a federal background investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National at the time of non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent position in the competitive service.
