June Lake Beach Toilet Replacement Project to be completed

The Inyo National Forest is planning to complete the installation of the vault toilets at June Lake Beach next week.

The flush toilets were demolished last fall. They had long-term maintenance issues that were both expensive and time-consuming to repair. They were demolished and replaced with four double vault toilets.

Last year, the contractor installed the toilet vaults and the buildings, but was unable to complete the project prior to winter conditions halting the project.

The contractor will be installing the metal awning and concrete pad between the toilet buildings as well as construct a gravel pathway to connect the toilet buildings to the pedestrian pathways.

The June Lake Beach parking areas will be closed April 17-19 for the safety of the public while this work is completed. These dates may be weather dependent. There is potential for snow in the forecast that could affect the concrete setting properly. The work should be completed for fishing opener.

The beach will remain opened throughout the project and there will be portable toilets in place for visitors.
