Kaibab Lake Campground

  • Friday, August 9, 7:00 pm – “Smokey Bear’s Story” Smokey Bear turns 75 today! Hear the story of Smokey Bear and his message on being safe and smart with fires, learn why fire is important in our ponderosa pine forest ecosystem, and enjoy a retro slide show. **And don’t forget to stop in at the Williams Visitor Center today for Smokey Bear’s 75th Birthday celebration from 8am – 5pm.

  • Saturday, August 10, 6:30 pm – “How Old Is My Tree?” Explore the way trees grow and the meaning in tree rings. Practice using an increment borer to extract your own tree ring cores. Great for all ages! Receive a free tree cookie to take home.


Dogtown Lake Campground

  • Saturday, August 10, 6:30 pm – “Fire On The Mountain” Discover how fire can benefit the health of the forest, and how to be smart and safe with fire while recreating with retired Kaibab National Forest Ranger Earl Bassett.


White Horse Lake Campground

  • Saturday, August 10, 10:00 am – “How Big Is My Tree?” (please see above)
