Kisatchie Recreation Site Status Update as of September 19, 2023:

FIRE RESTRICTION - STAGE 2 - ACROSS THE FOREST - NO OPEN FLAMES ALLOWED AT THIS TIME - THIS INCLUDES CAMPFIRES, BBQ GRILLS, SMOKING!
- Stage 2 Fire Restriction Forest Order - prohibited actions detailed in the Forest Order.
- The Forest is open to hunting. Visit our hunting page for information and guidelines.
- Dispersed camping (camping outside a designated campground area) is available throughout the Forest for those who enjoy primitive camping.
- There are NO cabins for rent on the Kisatchie.
- NO reservations are required for campsites - first come, first served. However, you may make reservations for Beaver Dam Campground located on the Caney Ranger District near Minden, LA, on recreation.gov.
- The Old LSU Walking Trail at the Supervisor’s Office located at the Alexandria Forestry Center, 2500 Shreveport Hwy, Pineville, is OPEN.
- The Dorcheat Road Bridge between Minden and Caney Lake Recreation Area and Beaver Dam Campground will be closed for the rest of the year. Please use South Hwy 159 as an alternate route to access the recreation area and campground.
- OHV Trail Status may be accessed through the OHV Hotline 866-830-6467. OHV Trails may be closed to motorized use after excessive rainfall. Typically, if the trail is open as of 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, it will remain open through the weekend. It is always best to call the District Office to confirm the trail is open before departing for the trail.
