Duties of the Committee
Generally, the committee’s role is to review and recommend projects and funding to the Forest Supervisor. The Forest Supervisor is responsible for considering the committee’s recommendations in the context of the forest land management plan and the laws and regulations that govern Forest Service activities and to approve the project if appropriate. The committee’s duties are to:
- review projects proposed under title II by participating counties, tribal governments, organizations and individuals;
- make recommendations to the Forest Supervisor acting for the Secretary of Agriculture about projects and funding in accordance with section 203 of the Act;
- provide early and continuous coordination with appropriate land management agency officials in recommending projects consistent with purposes of this Act under title II;
- provide frequent opportunities for citizens, organizations, tribes, land management agencies, and other interested parties to participate openly and meaningfully, beginning at the early stages of the project development process under title II;
- monitor projects that have been approved by the Forest Supervisor; and advise the designated Federal official on the progress of the monitoring; and,
- make recommendations to the Forest Supervisor for any appropriate changes or adjustments to the projects being monitored by the resource advisory committee.

Composition of the Committee
Each RAC shall have 15 members with balanced and broad representation of interests in 3 categories, specified in Section 205 (d)(2) of the Act. Members shall reside within the State(s) in which the committee has jurisdiction and, to the extent practicable, provide local representation in each category.
Group A
- Travis J. Salvestro - represents organized labor or non-timber forest product harvester groups
- Vacant - represents developed outdoor recreation, off highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities
- Solomon J. Ameen - represents energy and mineral development interests; or commercial or recreational fishing interests
- Vacant - represents the commercial timber industry
- Vacant - holds a Federal grazing or other land use permits, or represent nonindustrial private forest land owners, within the area for which the committee is organize
Group B
- Janae R. Scruggs - represents a nationally recognized environmental organizations
- Sari J. Sommarstrom - represents a regionally or locally recognized environmental organizations
- Vacant - represents dispersed recreational activities
- Robert C. Talley - represents archaeological and historical interests
- Elizabeth H. Nielsen - Nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups, wildlife or hunting organizations, or watershed associations
Group C
- Vacant - holds a State elected office (or a designee)
- Susan L.R. Tavalero - holds a county or local elected office
- Vacant - represents an American Indian tribes within or adjacent to the area for which the committee is organized
- Vacant is a school officials or teachers
- Vacant - represents the affected public at large
