Lassen National Begins Forest Plan Revision

The Great Basin Science Synthesis will focus on areas of both forests not already addressed by the Northwest Forest Plan area science synthesis or the Sierra Nevada Science Synthesis. The combined results of these three science-based documents will guide how the Lassen and Modoc revise their forest plans. Scientists from the Forest Service’s Western Center for Native Plant Conservation and Restoration Science will develop the Great Basin science synthesis.

A science synthesis is a summary of the available existing science that provides land managers with a scientific foundation for revising the forests land management plans. A “forest plan” guides how the Forest Service manages the associated public lands for 15 to 20 years. Check out this short video for more information about forest plan revisions.
