Recreation Passes & Permits

Annual Passes 2017The Interagency Passes are honored nationwide at all Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and US Fish & Wildlife Service sites charging entrance or standard amenity fees.

Forest Product Permits

Forest productsCollecting and removing forest products requires a permit. Forest products include items; such as, firewood, christmas trees, edible material, decorative material, minerals, plants, and other woody material.

Event or Commercial Special Use Permits

Special Use PermitsCertain types of uses of public lands require "Special Use Authorizations". These include commercial activities, such as filming, guiding, and events.

Campfire Permits

CampfireA campfire permit is required for campfire use, except when camping in a developed campground.

Wilderness Permits

Caribou WildernessThere are three Wilderness areas on the Lassen. We do not require Wilderness Permits to use the Wilderness areas. Enjoy your time!

Other Permits

Special Use PermitNon-commercial uses may also require Special Use Authorizations, including large group use, recreation organized events and gatherings, Recreation Residence permits, road use permits, easements, etc.

Personal Fuelwood Permits

Fuelwood PermitPermits can be purchased that allow you to cut firewood on the Lassen National Forest. Permits are for noncommercial, personal use only.

Christmas Tree Permits

Forest productsLassen National Forest Christmas tree permits will be on sale from November 1 through December 22.

Special Forest Product Permits

Special Use PermitsCollecting any thing on National Forest Lands for commercial use requires a Special Forest Product Permit.

 

Fee-Free Days

The Forest Service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency. Participation by concession-operated sites may vary. The 2017 dates are:

  • January 16, 2017: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • February 20, 2017: President's Day
  • June 10, 2017: National Get Outdoors Day
  • September 30, 2017: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11 - 12: Veterans Day Weekend
