The Forest Plan is an important document that governs all of our management action.

It is time for us to revise our existing plan. We invite you to work with us to develop a new plan that promotes a healthy, diverse, and productive Lincoln National Forest. Our goal is to remain inclusive and efficient as we move through the collaborative planning process.

The public will be invited to be involved throughout the process either through formal 'scoping' and 'comment' periods along with other avenues to be determined.  Be sure to check back here for more information.

The revision process involves two phases:

  • Phase I: Assess the condition of forest resources - determine the "Need for Change".
  • Phase II: Revise the plan through an Environmental Impact Statement

Where are we in the process?

Phase I:  The Assessment

Phase II:  Forest Plan and Environmental Impact Statement Development

The Need for Change document and the Preliminary Draft Plan are now available for public review and comment.  This Preliminary Draft Plan reflects input gathered earlier and describes the strategic direction for management of forest resources.  The Lincoln National Forest highly encourages feedback on the preliminary draft plan and participation moving forward.  Your feedback will help us improve the draft plan and consider alternatives to the proposed plan direction.  Comments are most useful if received by July 31, 2019. Please send comments to lnf_fpr_comments@fs.fed.us, or mail to Lincoln National Forest, Attn.: Plan Revision, 3463 Las Palomas Road Alamogordo, NM 88310. Changes, sometimes significant ones, will occur throughout the document prior to being released as the Official Draft Plan later in the year.
