Temporary Closure Order in effect through November 15, 2018 on Sacramento Ranger District

– affected area is less than 1 sq. mile

ALAMOGORDO, CLOUDCROFT, NM, April 12, 2018 – The Lincoln National Forest has issued a closure order for resource protection and for the protection of public health and safety.

The closure order will include areas fenced off by temporary electric fences within Agua Chiquita and Wills Canyon on the Lincoln National Forest (see maps). The closure is necessary to protect people from electric shock and to protect endangered species habitat. The closure shall remain in effect until November 15, 2018. The closure restricts all entry to the restricted area. No authorized roads or trails will be included in the closure.

Exceptions to the closure include: persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission; any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force engaged in the performance of an official duty; grazing permit holders removing livestock; and hunters retrieving game animals.
