Turkey Fire Final Update - July 5

Location:  Upper Turkey Canyon, White Mountain Wilderness, Smokey Bear Ranger District, Lincoln National Forest

Start Date:  July 2, 2018, 2:41 p.m.                    

Size:  2 acres          Containment:  100%            

Cause:  Lightning

Lat/Long:  33° 28' 18" x 105° 48' 36"

Summary:  The lightning-caused Turkey Fire is now 100% contained. Firefighters quickly hiked to the fire in the White Mountain Wilderness and immediately started suppressing it when it was reported on July 2nd. By July 3rd one hotshot crew and one engine crew were able to complete fireline around the perimeter of the fire. The fire burned with low intensity and was stopped at 2 acres. The fire is currently unstaffed due to rain that has fallen over the area the past few days.
