Women in Wildfire Basic Training Camp
Note: The 2022 Women in Fire Camp has been cancelled due to COVID concerns. We will postpone until further notice.
The Women in Fire Camp is a 6-day 5-night training and leadership Camp hosted by the U.S. Forest Service, Los Padres National Forest. The Camp is geared toward providing women with a realistic introduction to careers in wildland firefighting.
Requirements:
- You are required to be fully vaccinated for COIVD and show proof of vaccination status prior to attending camp. Please email your vaccination card to lpfjobs@usda.gov. In the Subject line add Attention Women and Fire Application.
- Participants are required to pass the Physical Agility Test and the basic fire training courses required of entry-level firefighters working for the Forest Service.
The goals of the Camp are to provide the following benefits:
- Motivate more women in the workforce to learn about careers in wildland fire and work for the Forest Service.
- Expose participants to a comprehensive wildland fire orientation using team building, leadership development, and professional development.
- Allow participants to gain a better understanding of the physical demands of the job by providing simulated activities such as challenging uphill hikes that wildland firefighters regularly perform.
