Winter Travel Management

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has begun the planning process to designate National Forest System areas for over-the-snow vehicle (OSV) use in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This process will update the current LTBMU Snowmobile guide and take a comprehensive look at access, parking, and motorized and non-motorized winter recreation opportunities. Review the current Snowmobile Guide at The LTBMU held three informational open houses to provide the public and interested stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback and accepted comments on the preliminary process for the Winter Travel Management plan through May 2, 2016.

  • South Shore - March 29, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Forest Supervisor’s Office, 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe
  • Kings Beach - April 5, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd.
  • Sparks, Nevada - April 19, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Humboldt-Toiyabe Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1200 Franklin Way
