The Douglas Fir and Silver Fir Campgrounds are closed due to the availability of campground hosts.

Everett, Wash.  – The Douglas Fir and Silver Fir Campgrounds were previously planned to open before July 4th ,2020 but will now remain closed until further notice due to campground host recruitment and attrition barriers for the 2020 season.

The Campground hosts are a necessary resource for the maintenance and operation of our developed campsites; however, many of these workers are also retirees whom the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classifies as being at higher risk, or greatest risk for severe illness from COVID-19. This has severely impacted host recruitment and attrition for the 2020 season within many National Forests.

The level of service that we can offer at our sites will not be universal across the forest and will be closely reflective of local situations.  We are working closely with campground managers to expedite the opening of campgrounds and to sustain site-by-site operations for the 2020 season.

We do not have a projected date for these locations to reopen currently and we appreciate visitors’ continued patience as we work toward restoring forest services and opening campgrounds.  Forest Service local and regional offices will continue to notify the public of any changes to campground operations and services.
