Most of Monongahela National Forest is open year-round, closing only when access roads are snow-covered. Highly developed campgrounds, picnic areas and visitor centers are routinely closed and winterized from late-fall through mid-spring.

Roadside camping is available in many areas of the forest for recreationists who would like to visit before developed campgrounds are open for the season. For more information, contact the Ranger District office near the location you would like to visit.

Camping may also be available at nearby state parks and forests. Visit https://wvstateparks.com/things-to-do/camping/ for more information.
