ELKINS, W.Va.—April 4, 2019--Discover Nature Day is back for its eighth consecutive year at Seneca Rocks Discovery Center Saturday, April 27! The event, organized by Potomac Highlands Cooperative Weed and Pest Management Area (PHCWPMA), is an entire day geared toward school-aged children who want to learn more about the natural world.

Discover Nature Day begins at 10 a.m. with the Garlic Mustard Challenge. Garlic mustard is an invasive species that is in need of some predators. On Discover Nature Day that predator is you! The challenge is to see how many garlic mustard plants teams can pull on the Discovery Center grounds. All volunteers will receive a thank you bag with cool prizes. Please be at the Center by 9:30 a.m. to sign up or join a team. Light refreshments follow the pull and are free for all volunteers who participate in the challenge.

After refreshments, the festivities begin with a message from the Cheat/Potomac District Ranger Troy Waskey. Drop by anytime 1-4 p.m. for live animal presentations as well as booths and displays with information from the WV Department of Environmental Protection, Trout Unlimited, WV Department of Agriculture and other partner groups located throughout the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.

Saturday, April 27, is sure to be a day full of fun and new experiences! Bring the whole family to discover nature.
