Campground host wanted

The Forest Service is looking for people to serve as Campground Hosts at Blue Lake Recreation area/Campground in 2018

Host Duties

Hosts will work throughout the Blue Lake Recreation area. Typically Hosts provide information and assistance to visitors, monitor the area for the Forest Service and perform light maintenance duties, which include stocking restrooms with paper products, checking and taking trash to dumpsters, and keeping track of campground site usage on a daily basis.

Transportation While Volunteering

The Forest Service may be able to provide a vehicle or reimbursement to support the use of personal vehicle for the Host to use in the Recreation Area.

Reimbursement for Expenses

The Forest Service may be able to provide reimbursement for expenses incurred by Hosts while volunteering.  If the Host is required to use their own vehicle while performing Host duties the Forest Service will likely provide reimbursement for the miles driven as the budget allows.

Time Commitment Requirements

The Operating Season for the Host Program is anticipated to begin around the end of May 2018 and go through the middle of October 2018.  This time period could include one or two periods staffed by Hosts potentially splitting the summer in half.  Couples are desirable but not required.

Equipment Provided

The Forest Service will provide Hosts with volunteer uniforms, radios, training and supervision and support handling difficult issues.  Hosts will have the ability to contact the Forest Service/Interagency Dispatch Office and/or the Devil’s Garden/Warner Mountain Ranger Districts in Alturas or Cedarville when assistance is needed.
