Release date: April 15, 2021

The Mt. Hood and Willamette National Forests are seeking project proposals that restore watersheds, address fire recovery efforts and road issues, control invasive weeds, improve forest health or otherwise improve resource conditions on or near National Forest System lands.  These proposed projects should benefit the Mt. Hood National Forest, Willamette National Forest, and/or the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, be vetted by unit level Staff officers, and be National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) ready.  Approximately $1.9 million are currently available for award through the Secure Rural Schools Title II Program.

The Hood-Willamette RAC consists of 14 members who represent a variety of interest groups on behalf of the public.  The RAC works together to review and recommend the approval of forest projects for Title II funding.  The Hood-Willamette RAC will meet virtually June 7 and 9 to discuss project proposals and hear presentations by project proponents.  Additionally, the RAC will meet July 7 to make funding recommendations for these Title II funds.  Sponsors of funded projects will be notified of awards by August 2021.

Completed project proposals are due electronically to Acting Partnership Coordinator, Christine Meyers, by email at no later than 5:00 p.m. PDT on May 14, 2021. For proposal instructions and an application or for more information related to this funding opportunity, visit:
