The Every Kid in a Park (EKiP) initiative is offering one free Christmas tree permit to fourth-graders that have a valid EKiP pass. These free permits ONLY available at U.S. Forest Service District offices. For more information about Every Kid in a Park visit:

Road Conditions & Travel Restrictions:

  • Vehicle access may be limited due to wet ground and snow. 
  • In these conditions 4WD vehicles with chains are advisable.  
  • Please be aware of and follow all travel restrictions. 


  • Call a district office for local road conditions, weather and travel advisory information.
  • Four-wheel drive vehicle or chains.
  • Full tank of gas.
  • Handsaw, axe, shovel for digging snow.
  • Tarp, rope or tie-downs.
  • Dress appropriately for winter weather.
  • Sled, snowshoes are advisable at higher elevations.
  • First-aid kit, food, extra water, blanket, warm liquids.
