Nez Perce-Clearwater Applying for State of Idaho Grants

The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests is currently applying for grant funding from the State of Idaho Parks and Recreation's Recreation Trails Program and Off-Road Motor Vehicle Programs to supplement funding for projects.

The first proposal is for approximately $15,000 of grant funds to match partner funding to provide improved angler access on the Cayuse and Kelly Creek trail systems. The requested grant funds will be matched with $17,000 from a combination of shared Idaho Fish and Game Department and Forest Service funds and volunteer assistance.

The second proposal for approximately $36,000 is for brushing approximately 21 miles of motorized trails across the forest, providing motorized opportunities as well as enhanced hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian opportunities. The requested grant funds will be matched with approximately $7,000 from a combination of federal funds and volunteer assistance including State Trail Ranger program contributions to volunteer assistance.

If you have questions or comments about the applications for grant funding please contact Carol Hennessey at (208) 935-4270.
