Fire salvage on 103 Road begins August 16

Visitors to the Lochsa/Powell Ranger District of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests will experience delays on Forest Service road (FSR) 103 in mid–August as officials conduct fire salvage operations and remove hazard trees from the roadway.

Operations for the 103 Salvage project will take place on August 16 and 17, and again on August 20 and 21. Signs will notify the public where work is taking place, and officials will be using CB channel 7. Travelers should expect delays and use caution when moving through work zones, staying aware of heavy machinery and people working in the area.

The 103 Salvage project is an approximately 12–acre fire salvage project which will remove dead and dying trees, salvage valuable timber resources, and replant trees in areas surrounding FSR 103 that were impacted by wildfires in 2015.
