North Central Idaho Resource Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for June 16–17

KAMIAH, Idaho (June 10, 2020) – The North Central Idaho Resource Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet on June 16 and 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (PDT). In order to promote social distancing, this meeting will be conducted virtually via webinar. A full two–day agenda for the upcoming meeting includes electing a new Committee chairperson and presentations from project proponents, followed by voting to recommend projects for funding.

There were 41 project proposals submitted by the May 26 due date for this round of submissions. The North Central Idaho Resource Advisory Committee has an estimated total of $2 million Title II funds to allocate towards projects.

Projects funded by the North Central Idaho Resource Advisory Committee must be located on National Forest System or other nearby lands in Idaho, Clearwater, or Latah counties and must benefit resources on the National Forest. Projects can be completed by USDA Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements, or through open–bid contracts with individuals and corporations. The Resource Advisory Committee works closely with the Forest Service to recommend projects that will benefit forest health, fish, wildlife, soils, watersheds, and other resources; maintain roads, trails, and other infrastructure; and/or control noxious weeds.

Resource Advisory Committees are authorized under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act and operate in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The purpose of Resource Advisory Committees is to improve collaborative relationships and provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service concerning projects and funding consistent with Title II of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.
