Forest Service announces road delays on Moose Creek Ranger District

U.S. Forest Service officials are advising the public to be aware of delays on USFS roads beginning on Monday, June 15th because of the Marek Timber Sale on the Moose Creek Ranger District.

Roadwork will begin on the following Forest Service Roads (FSR):

FSR 286, 1129D, 1129B, 1124, 470, 464 and 1826

Delays of up to four hours are possible in these areas. As road work is completed, timber harvest and log hauling will begin on these roads.  The Forest Service is conducting this roadwork to improve drainage and to bring the road to standard for safe timber hauling, which will also allow for improved vehicle access by the public following the conclusion of the project.  Officials recommend topping off vehicles with fuel before traveling on the roads and to pack extra food and water.

The timber harvest was designed to reduce roadside hazards, excessive fuel loadings, and timber losses aggravated by the current spruce beetle epidemic.
