Juniper Springs

Juniper Springs in the 1930sThe crown jewel of Civilian Conservations Corps recreation construction in the National Forests in Florida, this unique recreation area has drawn the attention of public since it was built in 1935.

A limestone and wood mill house - the once-functional mill was used to generate electricity for the campground - forms a picturesque backdrop for swimming, canoeing and other fun.

Recently restored to showcase the rustic construction that was the hallmark of CCC projects, Juniper Springs Recreation Area is open 365 days a year. It is centrally located within the Ocala National Forest, with an entrance on the north side of SR 40 to the west of SR 19.
