Methow Valley Ranger District Road Conditions

 

 

Date reflects current road conditions to the best of our knowledge.  Please report any road damage to Methow Valley district Office at 509 996-4000.

*Note: "OPEN" means that this road is "open to travel" and does not mean that the road is snow free or free of debris. Forest Service Roads are NOT plowed. 

During the spring and early summer when melt out occurs, conditions can change rapidly, particularly following a storm. It’s not unusual to encounter rocks, boulders, downed trees, plugged culverts or locations where a section of road has washed out or sloughed off. To protect road surfaces please do not go around snow drifts and debris. If the roadbed is soft and muddy, turn back and allow the roadbed time to dry-out and stabilize. Damage done by driving over or around soft, muddy sections of road is harmful to the environment and extremely costly to repair. Please drive slowly for the conditions. If you encounter road damage, please report it to the nearest Forest Service office.

CLOSED by gate at junction with the Chewuch Road #5100 due to wash out.  High water flows eroded road fill around the culvert at Lamb Creek, mile post 9.1, out of concern that traffic could lead to further road collapse at this site, the gate at the beginning of the road has been closed until repairs can be made, which may take a few weeks. Repairs tentatively scheduled for early August (5/26/2021)
