Forest Service firefighters responded to a fire in the Beaver Creek area on Tuesday morning, located 12 miles northeast of Leavenworth, WA on the Wenatchee River Ranger District.

The updated estimated acreage of the fire was revised from 6 acres down to just under 2 acres using GPS. The initial size estimate was made from an aerial fly over of the fire. Fire resources worked the fire all day yesterday, using aerial resources-3 helicopters and one retardant drop. Crews remained on the fire overnight. The fire is now contained. The fire was reported by a member of the public Tuesday morning on 7-10-18. The cause has been determined to be lightning.

Today about 50 firefighters, with the support of one helicopter will continue working to improve containment lines and begin mop up. With the forecasted weather trend looking to become hotter and drier, they want to get this fire put out.

A helicopter base is being set up at Fish Lake airstrip. The public is advised to be cautious while driving in the area due to both increased fire and aircraft traffic.

There are currently no road or trail closures in place, and no structures at risk, and no evacuation levels in place.
