Applicants Sought for 2018 YCC Program

IRONWOOD, MI (February 12, 2018). – The Ottawa National Forest is looking for applicants for this summer’s Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) program.  This program is designed to accomplish needed conservation work on public lands, provide gainful employment for young men and women, and help develop an understanding and appreciation of the Nation’s natural environment and heritage.

To participate in the program the applicant must be a young man or woman between 15 through 18 years of age, and a citizen of the United States, it’s Territories, or possessions.  Applicant must be a resident of a county within the Ottawa National Forest, State of Michigan.

Jobs will be located at the Watersmeet/Iron River Ranger Districts office in Watersmeet, Michigan.  The rate of pay will be $9.25 per hour.  The employment period will be from June 11, 2018 through August 3, 2018.  Potential enrollees must apply through their school guidance counselor prior to March 16, 2018.  Enrollees must provide their own transportation to the duty station and no housing will be provided.
