Lake Sylvia Swim Beach reopens

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Ouachita National Forest officials have reopened the Lake Sylvia Swim Beach after it passed tests showing the lake has returned to safe levels.

The lake was closed when high concentrations of bacteria were found to be present. High concentrations of bacteria in the lake is usually caused by recent heavy rainfall that can carry a variety of contaminants into the water, including animal waste.

Information on these sites and other recreational opportunities on the Forest are available at https://www.fs.usda.gov/ouachita/ or by calling (501) 321-5202.
