Antiquities Act of 1906 Ancient ruins, archaeological resources, and historical ruins such as cabins, and mining camps are fragile and irreplaceable. The Antiquities Act of 1906 and The Archeological Resources Protection Act of 1979 protect them for the benefit of all Americans. It is unlawful to dig, remove, injure, or destroy any historic or prehistoric objects, ruins, or sites on the National Forest.
