Salida Ranger District Broadcast Burning – 2018/19

Mount Shavano Prescribed Fire Project: The goal is to burn approximately 225 acres of U.S. Forest Service land to reduce the accumulation of hazardous fuels, restore and maintain healthy and diverse forest ecosystems and maintain and enhance wildlife habitat. This is an ongoing treatment in this project area. The project area is located eight miles west of Poncha Springs adjacent to CR 224 and CR 219 in the Lost Creek area. Legal location is: T50N, R7E, sections 28-29. This project is partially funded by partnership dollars.

North Trout Creek Prescribed Fire Project: The goal is to burn approximately 920 acres of U.S. Forest Service land to reduce the accumulation of hazardous fuels, restore and maintain healthy and diverse forest ecosystems and maintain and enhance wildlife habitat. This is an ongoing treatment in this project area. The project area is located four miles east of Buena Vista adjacent to CR 315 - Shields Gulch and CR305 - McGee Gulch area. Legal location is: T14S, R77W, sections 5-8.
