Pike National Forest Selling Christmas Tree Permits for South Platte District Beginning November 5

CONIFER, CO, October 30, 2018 - The Pike National Forest - South Platte Ranger District will begin selling Christmas tree permits at the District office November 5 through November 21, while supplies last. Permits can be purchased Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $20 per tree with a limit of five permits per person. Cash, check, and credit card payments will be accepted. Also, we’ve moved! The new District Office is located at 30403 Kings Valley Drive, Conifer, CO 80433.
Chainsaws are not permitted; a handsaw will be adequate. The permittee is responsible for knowing public land boundaries. The area will be well signed.

Cutters need to be prepared for winter weather. Allow up to four hours for your trip.
• Dress warmly for winter weather
• Have a full tank of gas
• Bring food, extra water, a shovel, a blanket, a first-aid kit and a warm drink
• Leave pets at home or have them on a leash at all times
• Take a rope and tarp to pack your tree home

Forest health is important, by removing these smaller trees you are contributing to the overall well-being of the forest and reducing fire danger.

Persons cutting or removing trees from the National Forest without a valid permit are subject to a fine of up to $5,000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.
