Forest Service to Host Open House for Projects Proposed on the Salida Ranger District

SALIDA, Colo., March 7, 2019 – The Salida Ranger District will be hosting an open house to introduce five new project proposals in Chaffee and Park counties. The public is invited to view the projects, meet with Forest Service specialists to answer questions and take your comments.

The open house will be on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Salida Ranger District Office, 5575 Cleora Rd. in Salida.

Maps and proposed project information will be available for the following projects:

  • Threemile Creek Vegetation Management - Near Mount Antero, 3-5 miles west of Centerville
  • Mt. Shavano Trail Re-Route - West of Salida from the Blank Gulch trailhead to the summit
  • Mt. Princeton Trail Re-Route - West of Buena Vista approximately 1 mile below the summit
  • Cals Fork Wetland Restoration - Southeast of Buena Vista near Black Dump adjacent to Park County Road 86
  • Big Slide Avalanche Mitigation - East of the Monarch Ski Area along U.S. Highway 50 near Monarch Pass
