PUEBLO, Colo., March 5, 2021 – The Pike and San Isabel National Forests Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands Pikes Peak Ranger District have begun conducting thinning operations along Rampart Range Road (NFSR 300) and are scheduled to continue until June 2021.

The project is not likely to close areas to recreation, however, activity on the Rainbow Gulch Trail may be impacted at times and recreationists are cautioned to be safe around logging trucks on the road.

The planned projects are part of the on-going efforts to reduce fuel loads and dense timber stands that contribute to catastrophic wildfires. Thinning operations also help to diversify the ecology and improve forest health.
