Bear Creek Watershed Assessment: how to provide comments
Release Date: Oct 26, 2012
How to Provide Comments and What We Would Like to Know From You
During the assessment process, we will identify the key issues in the watershed. We have identified these preliminary key issues to date:
- Recreational use (multi-use, high level)
- Effects of existing trails (system and non-system) on stream habitat and the fish population
- Effects of High Drive on stream habitat and the fish population
- Sustainability of the existing trail system (maintenance, funding)
- Effects of special use-permitted activities
- Risk of large-scale wildland fire in the watershed
- Effects of the existing transportation system on cultural resources
- Effects of the existing transportation system on wildlife resources
- Effects to water quality in a municipal watershed
- Access for mine claims (locatable minerals)
- Effects of Forest Service management on other landowners
We want to ensure that we have identified your concerns, especially if they are different from these listed. We would also like to know what opportunities you see for improving management of the watershed.
Your comments and questions concerning the watershed assessment effort should be directed to Mike Welker, Forest Biologist, at 719-553-1515; e-mail at mtwelker@fs.fed.us or mail correspondence to:
